Rost s.r.l. began as a private company that built small and medium-sized agricultural machines, mainly for use in organic farming.
Our company is a young business that came into being through the friendship of the two main founding partners (Stefano Fiorani and Roberto Caraceni), who have known each other since middle school and have always shared a passion for technology and traditional organic cultivation.
Both men cherish the dream of a clean world with a more human-scaled society that is not dependent on oil and is free from the illusion of globalization.
In the early 2000s, Stefano, attempting to maintain and cultivate his small plot of land with a bit of strength and very little time, began experimenting with the first machine prototypes to eradicate weeds from agricultural crops, using a battery-powered drill driver as a motor. At that time, only low energy density NiCd or NiMH batteries were available: despite this limitation, the results were very encouraging!
As the years passed by and his strength decreased, usingg traditional agricultural equipment (tillers and cultivators) with internal combustion engines became increasingly tiring.
So, at the beginning of 2015, Stefano took advantage of his vacation time (which was often “forced” due to bad times in the industry in which he was employed) to create a multi-functional four-axis rotary cultivator that was completely powered by lithium-ion battery drills: it was a mix of technological innovations capable of incorporating the features of various traditional machines. And so…
On July 31, 2015, Stefano and Roberto submitted a patent application. Solid collaboration (moral, technological, and financial) has allowed us to carry out this ambitious project of ours.
To our great satisfaction, one year after submitting the patent we learned of the international search report’s findings that our machine proved to be innovative and also possessed a certain technological content. You can imagine our delight!
At first we thought about transferring the patent to a farm machinery manufacturer in exchange for a fee.
We abandoned this idea almost immediately: we could not place such an innovative agricultural machine in the hands of unscrupulous companies that would not remain faithful to the technological development lines that we had designed from the beginning.
In July 2016, we decided to found an innovative start-up company. Our original group expanded to include a friend, who joined with a small share. And so “ROST srl” was founded and, in its first year, invested all of its limited resources into research and development, achieving significant improvements in the project and its industrialization.
Currently, our company is able to meet the first orders for machines, since we have obtained all necessary conformity and safety certifications.
